War & Mercy - 10/24

You say you want a revolution...

War & Mercy by Regina Robbins

November 5, 7PMCloud City, WilliamsburgPay what you can at the door

Join us for a workshopped reading of this new play that explores when it’s time to take up arms to defend our rights, our personal duty to justice, and the cost of violence. Weaving verse written by Mercy Otis Warren through her modern dialogue play, Regina Robbins leaves us pondering the layers of revolution that have come before.

Directed by Sofia Ubilla. Featuring Gabrielle Laurendine, Madeline Egan Addis, Miguel A Faña, Gagarin, Monica Rounds, Leticia Diaz, Desirée Baxter, Michael Quattrone, Jory Murphy, Dorothea Gloria, and Royston Scott.

What is The Legacy Commission?

Each year, the Expand the Canon Reading Committee reads hundreds of plays by women. Some are wonderful (and now featured on the

). Some are bad. Many are worthy but imperfect. Mercy Otis Warren's The Ladies of Castile is one of those play. Hedgepig pairs contemporary women playwrights with these plays, asking writers to loosely adapt the text. We're thrilled by what Regina Robbins has created and delighted to uplift Ms. Warren's largely forgotten work.
