Ready to Behave Badly? A Working Subject Line
It's here! Expand the Canon 2024
The New List has DROPPED!
Meet our 14 new writers and 16 classic plays –– find out all about them on expandthecanon.com!
And if you’re getting this email, you probably get why storytelling matters, and that who tells those stories matters, too. We’re playing a big game: forever shifting which voices of the past we value and uplift.
Well-behaved women rarely make history and Hedgepig is changing history.
There’s really no gentle way to ask for money, and with that in mind, we’re working on some really bold, exciting projects in the upcoming years and we need your help.
If you want to support badass women in the present working to amplify the voices of badass women of the past, please donate to Hedgepig Ensemble’s end-of-year fundraising campaign. Expand the Canon’s work has always been to amplify the voices of female and gender-expansive playwrights that should take their rightful place among the classics. Some of the work your donations will support in 2025 and beyond:
Partnerships with professional theaters across the country (getting Expand the Canon plays produced at large-scale levels)
Educational workshops, packets, and talks with colleges & universities (cementing these plays in curricula and regularly on student stages)
Monologue books with pieces from the ETC project(introducing new material to female, male, and gender-expansive actors)
Commissions for new plays to be written in conversation with ETC plays(stretching the legacy of gender-expansive classics from past to future)
And as always, finding, researching, & curating our ever-growing list of plays by female and gender-expansive playwrights that are classics!
