In Person

An Arrested Development for the 18th century…This farcical skewering of the aristocracy is a contemporary roast of old-money values. A notable family deigns to allow a bourgeois gentleman to marry their noble daughter… and pay off all their debts, of course. But their daughter instead creates delicious chaos with her formerly affianced! Dusty heraldry, fashionable hypochondria, and, of course, debt abound in this frothy class commentary.
🎉WHO: You! 📖WHAT: Casual live dive into The Mésalliance💥WHEN: 7pm ET (come just before to be cast!) 🗽WHERE: Young Ethel's - 506 5th Ave, Brooklyn
ROLES FOR THE MÉSALLIANCE:
Frau Von Ahnenstolz - Theatrical, superior, and obsessed with frivolous decorum and imagined illnesses. Willing to twist logic in any direction to support her beliefs.
Frauline Philippine - A firm believer in her own autonomy. Deceptive & manipulative not out of cruelty, but the sincere belief that her desires are important. Daughter of Von Ahnenstolz.Frauline Amalia - Fiercely intelligent, unpretentious, practical even at her own expense; she’s been surrounded by absurdity her whole life. Sister to Frau Von Ahnenstolz.
Hanne - Witty, droll, and incisive - she creates fun for herself, but ultimately answers to her employers.
The Servant - Professional and effective.
Herr Von Ahnenstolz - Stuffy, verbose, ultimately interested in what’s best for his family. Used to holding the power.
Herr Von Zierfeld - Unselfconsciously foppish, vain, a bit unaware. A far better lover to himself than he is to Philippine.
Herr Von Wildholz - Level-headed, reasonable, but still susceptible to the family loquaciousness and love of indulgence… A bit ineffectual, really. Cousin to Herr Von Ahnenstolz.
Herr WIllibald - Eternally patient, dewy-eyed, continually bewildered when people do not behave as reasonably as he does. Grows increasingly skeptical and disenchanted, but ultimately falls victim to his own romanticism.
Jacob - Less aware than Hanne, his sister, and catching hell for it. Quick on the rebound.
