[Re-sent] Transition Fundraising Email 1

A Note from Hedgepig’s Managing Director, Corri Oster

In 2021, I began a hunt to get more involved in the mission-driven NYC arts scene and soon after came across Hedgepig Ensemble Theatre. Three years later, I feel privileged to have been a small part of the work that these artists do with Expand the Canon.

To tell you the truth, I didn’t know very much about classic theater when I started working here- and I especially didn’t know how many amazing plays there were out there written by women and non-binary people throughout history. From nuns to Pulitzer-Prize winners to even a Princess, the playwrights and plays that our brilliant Readers and Curators have re-discovered are a daily reminder to me that women have always been writing- and that shouldn’t be a secret.

I am proud of the work we’ve done to advocate for these artists over the last few years:

Partnering with theaters both in New York and across the country to introduce these plays to a wider audience
Upgrading the Expand the Canon website to better engage individual artists, educators, arts organization staff, and audience members
Building capacity for our own staff members and volunteers so that we can do more to Expand the Canon.

But this is just the beginning.

This summer, I am stepping down as Managing Director but I won’t be far. You’ll continue to see me cheerleading this mission and organization from the sidelines- and I hope you will join me!
