One Night Only: Ukrainian Verse Play

Join us THIS Weekend at BRIC!

In support of Ukraine, join us for a staged reading of this hilarious, epic verse play by a Ukrainian playwright

The Stone Host by Lesya Ukrainka

November 5, 4:00pm

BRIC - 647 Fulton StreetBrooklyn, NY 11217

A Note from Director Triza Cox:

In The Stone Host, Lesya Ukrainka plays with the highly stratified society of 17th Century Spain, where mores and protocols were fiercely enforced, and the only path to power for women was through strategic marriage.

We invite the audience to question whether women in these environments are only as moral as their circumstances allow them to be. For an ambitious woman who wants to shape a life on her own terms, the options are limited and the consequences are often desolating. Ukrainka mostly writes intimate scenes where the interior lives of women are especially revealed. Through this window into the feminine psyche, we see the push and pull of the constraints of that world on women and the magnanimity of their spirits in Lesya Ukrainka’s classic work.

Featuring: Desireé Baxter, Nazlah Black, Terra Chaney, Gilbert Cruz, Gagarin, Erick Gonzalez, Skye Pagon, Gregory Jon Phelps, Rosie Sowa. Directed by Triza Cox. Stage Managed by Mary Brennan.

A percentage of all proceeds will be donated to the efforts in Ukraine.

Sad we had to cancel our season announcement? #crazyweather
